According to the Urban Dictionary, “Spiritual Awakening” refers to a shift in consciousness, an apperception of reality that had been previously unrealized. The culmination of such realizations is in the recognition of oneness with all of existence. “
In other words, a spiritual awakening is the transformation of one’s life, through a stronger mental connection and view of the outer world. When one person begins their spiritual awakening otherwise known as “ spiritual ascension” it marks the beginning of their journey through the spiritual world.
What causes a Spiritual Awakening?
There are many ways one can be called to a higher consciousness through a spiritual awakening. Some of the causes are sudden and some are slow. Here are the following reasons that have remained consistent within many experiences.
- Natural Awakening: A natural awakening happens when you shift your mind through a higher state of consciousness. Examples are, helping others, plants, or animals,, meditating, any other form of self transformational practice, or more.
- Traumatic experiences or Life-changing events: These experiences are anything that takes a toll on emotional and physical well-being, it can range from anything like abuse, losing a loved one, or losing a job. Surviving an accident etc.
- Dark Night of Soul: You start to question everything about your life, what you have been taught, your purpose. Often falling into a deep depression and battle with oneself.

You begin to notice the habits and patterns you engage in every day for example you could be asking yourself

2. A change in behavior: You begin to change your behavior in an authentic way, you worry less about materialistic things, and you’re kinder to others and yourself.
3. A sense of “ oneness”: Feeling as though you and everyone else and things are connected.
