The journey of spiritual growth isn’t always a straight line. There are twists, turns, and bumps along the way. We live in a world now where it’s more common to talk about spiritual practice and thanks to the internet and social media, we can share our experiences and tips in ways we haven’t been able to before.
Going through my spiritual journey there are some things that I wish I knew in advance, so today I would like to share with you five tips for spiritual growth. These tips will guide you on the right path and provide you with insights that can help you and your journey.
Take Time to Write Out Your Thoughts
At times life can get so crazy. We think through so many different thoughts and feel so many emotions, sometimes it’s hard to understand what you’re feeling and why. So a major tip would be to write it down on pen and paper. Write down how you’re feeling, and what’s affecting you, and try to dig deeper into the root cause. I find that putting it down on paper helps with this process. It’s a therapeutic way to re-organizing and understand yourself on a different level.
When in Doubt Be Positive
This life we live it’s already filled with so much negativity. You hear it in the news, read it in the paper. You can’t go anywhere without hearing something horrible that’s happening in the world and because of that reason, it is up to us to be the light in a dark place. Although you can’t control what’s going on around you, you have full control of what’s going on within you and how you choose to view certain things and situations. Being positive is a habit that can be learned with enough practice. When you’re positive it gives you the right energy and headspace to be able to make better choices instead of acting out of anger. When you’re in a positive state you’re acting out of pure love and this will help get you to your goals faster. It also can inspire others around you as well.
Show Gratitude
Practicing gratitude when you can for anything is a great way to heighten your frequency. Thinking the world of what you have and even the smallest details open up the doors to receive more. According to Healthline here are a few ways to practice gratitude:
-
gratitude exercises, such as journaling
-
paying attention to the little things in life, like the birds in the trees
-
telling someone you’re grateful for them or for something they did, even if it was a long time ago
-
doing something kind for someone in your life to express your gratitude
-
meditating on the positive aspects of your life
-
giving thanks through prayer
Be Kind and Help Others
We are all put on this earth to help. Even the smallest act of kindness has the power to transform the lives of so many people, it’s like a ripple effect. Your kindness impacts one person, and they pass it on. Being kind and helping others doesn’t mean you have to sign up for the next charity you see. Extending a kind and helping hand can be done in the smallest of ways. A smile, a compliment, a warm hug, and listening ears are just a few things we can do. Being kind and helping others opens up our hearts, in turn strengthening our spirituality.
As we all go through our own journey to spiritual growth, I invite you to share your tips and teachings with those around you. Try sending this blog to a friend who you know would benefit from this blog post.
