Learning how to become a shamanic healer is not easy. Although it’s filled with amazing realizations and in-depth discovery, becoming a shaman takes dedication and hard work. In this post, we’ll go over the signs you may be called and the steps to take.
What Is a Shaman?
The dictionary defines a shaman as a person regarded as having access to, and influence in, the world of good and evil spirits, especially among some peoples of northern Asia and North America. Typically, such a person enters a trance state during a ritual and practices divination and healing.
Gaia.com puts it this way: shamans work with the invisible realms to bring healing, peace, and wholeness to the world.
Different cultures and lineages have different protocols around becoming a shaman. What’s universally true is that shamans are here to help lift the community to a higher vibration and to help people understand their truth without judgment or stereotypes. Many healers are shamans and don’t even know it yet.

Signs You Could Be Called to Become a Shaman
You could be called to this path if you experience any of the following.
1. You Consider Yourself an Empath
You’re sensitive to other people’s emotions, and you can feel the emotions and energy around you. You can easily tell when someone is hurting, and you can absorb the energies of others.
2. You’re Extremely Intuitive
You can trust your intuition to make the right decisions for you most of the time, and when your intuition tells you something, it’s usually right.
3. You Don’t Fit In
You never seem to fit in with any one group. You’re different, and you don’t go along with the crowd.
4. You’re Very Creative
It’s simple for you to express your emotions in creative ways. Your creative juices are always flowing, and you can easily tap into that side of yourself.
5. You Feel a Strong Calling to Help Others
Your entire life you’ve known that you are meant to help others, even if you don’t yet understand how. Everyone believes you’re the best person to go to with problems. You’re easy to speak with, and people find themselves opening up to you.
If you answered yes to any of these five, there’s a strong chance you’re being called to help the world through your healing and knowledge. So how exactly do you become a shamanic healer?
