Dreams
For thousands of years, dreams have held a lot of meaning. It was once thought that dreams were The link between gods and humans. We spend approximately 1/3 of our lives dreaming. For something we do so often, there must be a meaning, don’t you think? Let’s explore the basics of the importance of dreams, how they work & how to possibly explore them through lucid dreaming.
REM sleep
Both adults and babies dream for at least two hours a night. your dream begins when your eyes are closed, and you fall into REM sleep. According to MD (REM), sleep stands for rapid eye movement. During REM sleep, your eyes move around rapidly in various directions but don’t send any visual information to your brain.
When it comes to dreaming, it happens to all of us, women, children, babies, and even animals. Some of us dream in black and white, and some of us dream in color. But what happens when a dream starts to feel like it holds a more profound significance?
As we dream, it is like our brains’ way of working out our innermost thoughts and feelings. It is also an excellent way for your spirit guides to connect with you.
Spirit Dreams
Your spirit guides may reach out to you in a dream, letting you know to change direction in your life, warning you of something to come, or perhaps pushing you to decide on your life. The scenarios are endless. When you’re having a spiritual dream because it feels different, it feels like you were there in real life. Sometimes you can be put in the same dream watching the same scenario happen again. This can be a sign from your spirit guides that you need to change your life if you wish to have a different outcome.
Lucid dreaming
Dreams can be controlled by lucid dreaming. It is a common practice. For some, it’s hard to do and for others, it comes quite naturally. As you’re sleeping and your body falls into REM, your brain is very active and your eyes are moving back and forth very fast. You begin to fall into a deep sleep but as you fall asleep and begin to dream you realize that you are dreaming. According to Healthline “ About 55 percent of people have experienced one or more lucid dreams in their lifetime. However, frequent lucid dreaming is rare. Only 23 percent of people have lucid dreams at least once a month. “
Here are a few tips to help you lucid dream.
1. Do reality checks while you’re awake
Practice doing reality checks while you’re awake so that you can learn to do them while you’re sleeping. A great way to do this it’s to take a moment each day to realize where you are, what you’re doing, and be present in that very moment. Another great tip is to hold your nose and see if you’re breathing. if you do this while you’re dreaming you’ll still be able to breathe through your nose.
2. Keep a dream journal
Keep a dream journal and start to recall your dreams the second you wake up. The best time to remember your dreams is right when you wake up in the morning. Most dreams are forgotten within the first hour of being awake. If you practice the act of going back to your dream states and remembering the events you’re making your brain more aware and attentive to the dream so it will become easier to be more attentive as you try to lucid dream.
3. Set an alarm
Set an alarm to go off two hours before you wake. When the alarm goes off just quietly sit there in a calm state. This act will increase your chance of lucid dreaming.
Dreaming is our given right. The medium between this world and the spiritual. When deeply understood dreams can positively impact and guide you in the direction you’re supposed to go for your life. Dreams have the power to heal and inspire. So what are you waiting for ? What would you dream of next?
